There were 14 named storms and 2 tropical depressions during the 2022 season. After no storms in August, the season sprang back to life in a big way. Briefly a Category 5, Hurricane Ian hit Florida and became one of the worst hurricanes on record in the United States and Fiona was a long-lived Category 4 in the open Atlantic.
